| Geocoding feature types not appearing [ Marco Zirino ]Thursday, 30-Mar-2006, 09:42
Hi, I am using objectland 2.6.5 and trying to use the geocoding feature. I have imported a table of coordinates into the GDB. When I try to use geocoding, no feature types appear in step 2. However, my layers do show feature types in other windows. What am I doing wrong?
Thanks,
Marco |

Hello Marco,
Do you have at least one point feature types in your layer? A result of geocoding is a creation of POINT features with indicated coordinates. |

Thanks. that works - I needed to add a point feature. However, I still have a problem. I want to create a grid of squares over a map, and color them according to values in a linked table. Each square is identical, but is an area rather than a point. Is it possible to put these sqaure areas on the map using a table of X,Y coordinates?

If you really need area features then the answer is NO. A result of geocoding is always creation of point features.
But if you need in squares for aesthetic representation you can use a style (map symbol style) that will display these geocoded points as squares. You can create some map symbols with various colors, and use concept of filter to create a theme with squares colored accordingly to values in a linked table. |
